Project Overview

Role: Prime Consultant

M&J Engineering (M&J) is providing construction management/inspection services for parking lot reconstruction at Michael J. Tully Park. The park is located on the former Denton Avenue Landfill, which dates to the early 1950s. The landfill was reportedly excavated to a depth of approximately 45 feet below grade and filled with solid waste. Landfill operations ceased in 1963.

The scope of work consists of reconstructing an existing parking lot that settled due to the landfill subgrade. This includes 23 stormwater drainage structures and associated HDPE stormwater piping, new curb, sidewalk, pedestrian ramps, lighting structures with H-Piles/concrete pile caps, asphalt paving, pavement markings, and plantings.

M&J’s responsibilities include review of plans and project technical specifications prior to the start of construction, advising the Town of any potential conflicts or liabilities, and making recommendations on how best to proceed; reviewing and responding to change order proposals and RFIs; attending bi-weekly progress meetings and preparing and distributing progress meeting minutes; daily inspection, preparation of daily inspection reports and logs, photo documentation, and field measuring/recording quantities of materials removed and delivered to the site; ensuring that materials being delivered to the job site conform to project specifications and approved submittals/shop drawings; ensuring that earthwork/flat work are being installed to proposed depths/elevations as conveyed in construction bid documents; resolving field-related issues; SWPPP inspections and reports; review of contractor progress schedules, material testing data, contractor payment requisitions, and regulatory compliance needs; and closeout tasks including preparation of a project punch list, review and acceptance of as-built drawings a
