Project Overview

Role: Construction Quality Control Services

M&J Engineering D.P.C. (M&J) provided construction quality assurance services for this design-build project that included rehabilitation of seven Grand Central Parkway Bridges between Union Turnpike and Commonwealth Boulevard in Queens County, Region 11. The project comprised replacement of the GCP bridge over Union Turnpike (BIN 1065139), the GCP bridge over Vanderbilt Parkway (1076529), the GCP bridge over Winchester Boulevard (1065149), and the westbound GCP on-ramp over the Cross Island Parkway (106514A). Work included replacement of deteriorated concrete deck and approach slabs, deck joints, bearings and pedestals, railing with concrete barriers, lighting, and drainage. In addition, structural steel repairs and painting were performed as needed. The contract also included repairs at the eastbound GCP on-ramp over Alley Park Road (BIN 1076540), the westbound GCP service road over the southbound Cross Island Parkway (1076610), and the westbound GCP service road over the northbound Cross Island Parkway (1076620). The scope of that work included but was not limited to full and partial-depth deck repairs, approach slab overlay and/or replacement, and substructure repairs.

This project earned the 2025 AGC Excellence in Partnering Award.
