Project Overview

Role: Sub Consultant

M&J Engineering (M&J) as a part of team provided design-build procurement services, including topographic, hydraulic, and drainage structure survey services, for roadway improvements at the Ashokan, Croton, and Schoharie Reservoirs for the NYCDEP. The goal was to enhance infrastructure reliability and safety.

M&J conducted extensive surveying to prepare topographic maps and establish a control network using GPS and conventional methods at three reservoir sites. At the Ashokan Reservoir, the work included topographic and drainage structure mapping of roadway and stream sections, including 58 drainage structures along a 9.5-mile corridor of Route 28A. This work followed FEMA’s Data Capture Workflow for Hydraulic Surveys. Additionally, we performed 8 boundary surveys for properties adjacent to some of the drainage structures for possible parcel acquisition by NYCDEP. The Schoharie Reservoir project in Greene County involved mapping a subsidence-affected portion of County Road 7. The Croton Reservoir efforts in Westchester County comprised topographic mapping of several roadway segments and the Croton Lake Gatehouse, covering approximately one mile. The total value of this task order was $1 million.

M&J Engineering successfully completed highly detailed topographic mapping, including stream/structure cross-sections and detailed roadway cross-sections. Additionally, we provided detailed profile/section views of drainage structures throughout the 9.5-mile corridor of Route 28A.

Additionally, M&J developed roadway design criteria and design-build procurement services, including but not limited to assisting with the development of performance and prescriptive specifications; development of the budget and preparation of construction cost estimates and schedules; development of Procurement Plan, Risk Management Plan, review of RFQ and SOQ documents submitted by the design-build teams; evaluation of proposals; and construction administration, design and construction compliance, and quality management oversight.

M&J has completed Land Surveying and Design-Build procurement services. The project is currently in pre-construction phase.
